Lake Louise

Day 6 – Banff to Calgary & Day 7 – CALGARY

We started our final full day with a quiet morning walk to Bow Falls, where we were greeted by three elk grazing just steps from our path. After a coffee stop at Whitebark Cafe, we boarded the bus headed for the legendary Lake Louise.

The turquoise waters of Lake Louise were as magical as ever, and we enjoyed a walk along the shoreline. On my last visit here, I was lucky enough to stay at the Fairmont Lake Louise, if you are able to do it, I highly recommend it and stay for a few days to venture along the trails, watch the sunrise, take a canoe ride, and have some afternoon tea at the hotel.

Lunch was our next stop at the Lake Louise Ski Resort, followed by a gondola ride to the top for another grizzly bear sighting!

From there, we returned to Calgary where we had a little time to explore. We then boarded the bus for our farewell dinner at Heritage Park (formally Heritage Park Historical Village).

Day 7 – We woke up the next morning in Calgary to grab our final Tim Hortons and take a last walk to explore the city before our driver arrived to take us to the airport.

Unfortunately, we had many travel delays on our way home and after multiple delays that ended with a canceled flight (due to maintenance issues on the plane, then a timed out crew), Delta did provide us a hotel nearby to sleep for a few hours before we woke early to board another flight home. While travel delays like this are frustrating, and required an additional day of work and a missed board meeting, the trip overall was amazing and I cannot wait to revisit Canada.
