Galentines IN D.C.
A Galentine’s Weekend Away in D.C. with My Twin Sister
My twin sister and I decided to make the most of our Galentine’s Day by taking a quick weekend trip to Washington, D.C. Here’s a recap of our fun weekend in the nation’s capital!
Arriving in D.C. & Checking into the Dupont Circle Hotel
We arrived in D.C. just in time to check into our hotel, the Dupont Circle Hotel, a sleek and stylish property right in the heart of the city. It offered the perfect mix of comfort and sophistication, with a great location close to all the must-see sights. I was able to use my Capital One Venture X credit card for some added perks, which really made the stay even more enjoyable. I’ll be writing a separate post about the amazing benefits of this credit card, but trust me—if you’re a frequent traveler, it’s worth checking out! H
Music at the 9:30 Club
The main event of our trip was the Michael Marcagi concert at the 9:30 Club, one of D.C.’s most iconic music venues. Neither my sister nor I had been to the 9:30 Club before, but we were beyond excited to attend. There is no seating at the 9:30 Club so after waiting in line to get in, we made our way upstairs to secure space along the railing for the evening. It was perfect.
Opening for Michael Marcagi was Ashley Kutcher, I was not familiar with her music but it’s always great to hear new artists. Michael Marcagi was awesome and I highly recommend attending one his concerts while he is on tour.
Dinner at Doyle Bar & DRINKS AT PEMBROKE
We had dinner prior to the concert at the Doyle Bar in the hotel and then headed back to the hotel for drinks and dessert in the Pembroke after the concert. If you’re in the mood for a cozy yet upscale spot with fantastic cocktails, these are both the place to go.
Saturday: Culture and Reflection
Saturday morning, we started with an amazing breakfast at the Pembroke before departing to the the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. We had reserved our tickets online for just $1 each—such an incredible deal, especially considering the museum’s cultural and historical significance. The exhibits were powerful and deeply moving. We were able to walk to and from the hotel and caught a lot of iconic D.C. sights along the way.
Lunch at Maman Bakery
On our way out of D.C., we stopped by Maman Bakery for some treats to go. The space itself is charming, with a rustic and inviting feel. It was the perfect little stop to round out our trip.
Final Thoughts on Our Galentine’s Weekend
From live music and cultural exploration to delicious food and quality sister time, our Galentine’s weekend in D.C. was a perfect getaway.
Stay tuned for a future post where I’ll dive deeper into the benefits of the Capital One Venture X card and other travel cards —trust me, it’s worth the read if you’re a frequent traveler! I wish I had understood the benefits of these cards earlier in my travel experiences.
As always, follow along on my social media for more photos, videos, and highlights.
Until next time, D.C.!
