4 STATES IN 4 DAYS – Day 3
Day 3: Exploring Auburn and Onward to Atlanta – Books, BBQ, and Barefoot Moments
We started the day with another morning walk and a stop at Well Red for an iced tea and a muffin—this cozy spot instantly became a favorite! After scooping up my nephew, we explored more of Auburn and discovered Auburn Oil Co Booksellers—charming, well-stocked, and just across from campus. Another iced tea? Yes, please. If I lived in Auburn, I would be a regular at both!
The day continued with a fantastic campus tour of Auburn’s engineering school. Even with the bookstore under renovation, we made it to the temp location and wandered campus on our own after the tour. A shoe mishap left me walking completely barefoot (yes, barefoot) back to the car. Hope I didn’t embarrass my family but you gotta do what you gotta do.
Lunch was very late but very needed at Bow & Arrow, a BBQ spot nearby. Then we hit the road for Atlanta. Our stay was at the Westin Peachtree Plaza, a skyline icon I’d always wanted to experience—but sadly, it didn’t live up to the hype and I was really disappointed. I used to live in Atlanta and was excited to have a few hours back in the ATL, but it really didn’t work out as I hoped.
We walked around Centennial Olympic Park (which I adore), passed the World of Coca-Cola (which had already closed), and later grabbed a drink at the Sundial Bar before calling it a night with some pizza in the room.
If you make it to Atlanta, make sure to have time to spend in the World of Coca-Cola, it’s a really fun place and you get to try Coke products from all over the world.
