Castles, Glens & Loch Legends
Day 4 Scotland – Glencoe • Urquhart Castle • Loch Ness • Inverness
Glencoe
Our first stop was Glencoe Visitor Center, Glencoe is one of Scotland’s most iconic and picturesque landscapes. There were beautiful bluebells all around and I even spotted some highland cows in the field. When we arrived, I took a short hike to take in the views before stopping in the cafe to have some tea and a scone. I enjoyed time sitting outside and walking around the property before boarding the bus to our next stop.

A Loch Full of Legends: Loch Ness
Next stop: Loch Ness. Yes, that Loch Ness — home to tales of “Nessie,†the elusive sea creature said to dwell in its depths.
Urquhart Castle: Ruins with a View
Perched dramatically on the shores of Loch Ness, Urquhart Castle gave us stunning views. Though now in ruins, the castle was once a stronghold in the Wars of Scottish Independence and has witnessed centuries of history.

Evening Arrival: Inverness
We ended the day in Inverness, the capital of the Highlands and a charming city. After checking into our hotel, I took a stroll along the water as this city is very walkable. Before dinner the hotel had some young local highland dancers visit and perform for us. They were raising funds for their competitions. They were so sweet.
