Montreux & Les Advants
Highlands to Alpine Adventure Day 20 – Montreux Magic, Mountain Blooms & New Friendships
Today felt like something out of a novel—lakeside castles, hillside hikes, and the sounds of Swiss cowbells in the alps.
Morning in Montreux
We began our day in the stunning lakeside town of Montreux, nestled on the shores of Lake Geneva. First stop: the Château de Chillon, a storybook medieval fortress perched right on the water’s edge. The color of the water was just stunning.

Afterward, we strolled along Montreux’s famous flower-lined promenade and passed the famous Freddie Mercury statue, a tribute to the legendary Queen frontman who lived and recorded here.
I headed to lunch at a local Italian restaurant, right on the water with some new friends before our next adventure.

Up the Mountain: Les Avants & Fields of Flowers
In the afternoon, we hopped on a train to the charming village of Les Avants, a quiet, picturesque town tucked into the hills above Montreux. From there, we took the funicular up to Le Paradis des Narcisses—a spot known for its seasonal blooms of wild narcissus.
The hike through the hills was much more challenging than we anticipated, but absolutely worth every step. Fields of wildflowers including the famous narcissus flowers blanketed the landscape.

As we hiked, we heard the soft clang of cowbells echoing through the hills, and soon came upon cows grazing along the path. I wish everyone could experience this, the sounds is so magical.
We eventually made our way back down the trail and into Les Avants, tired but happy.
