Terraced Vineyards
Highlands to Alpine Adventure Day 19 – Sips, Strolls & Swiss Views: A Vineyard Day in Grandvaux & Lavaux
We left Vevey by train, bound for the terraced vineyards of Grandvaux, part of the UNESCO-listed Lavaux wine region—a place where vines meet lake views.
A Vineyard Lunch with a View
Our first stop was a family-owned restaurant in Grandvaux location steps from the train station. We had fresh fish and fries, paired with a crisp local white wine—perfectly dry, light, and it was so good. The setting was cozy and the even offered us blankets to take off the chill as we were sitting outside.

A Walk Through the Vines
After lunch, we took a downhill walk through the vineyards. The Lavaux region is known for its steep terraced vineyards, which have been hand-tended for generations.

Wine Tastings with Local Winemakers
Our first tasting was at Jacques & Aurélia Joly – Vignerons Encaveurs, a small, family-run estate. We sampled a selection of local whites and reds and took a quick tour.
Next, we visited Lascaux Vinorama, which features various local producers offering a fresh perspective on Lavaux’s terroir. Sadly, we didn’t have a lot of time but the tasting was enjoyable.

Views from Mont Pèlerin
After a scenic train back to Vevey, I boarded the funicular to Mont Pèlerin, rising high above the town for sweeping views over Lake Geneva and the vineyards we had just explored.

Sunset Stroll & Slow Evening
Back in Vevey, I ended the day with a quiet walk along the lake.

Next up: even more Alpine adventures! Stay tuned.
