Calgary to Waterton Lakes National Park
Day 2 – Collette Canadian Rockies & Glacier National Park Classic Tour
We left Calgary behind and headed south toward the peaceful beauty of Waterton Lakes National Park. Along the way, we visited the UNESCO site Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, learning about the history and culture of the Plains People.

Waterton welcomed us with a bear sighting from the bus! After arriving at the hotel, we wandered the cozy town and stopped for a beavertail. A beavertail is a classic Canadian treat. It was my sisters first and we split the classic with cinnamon and sugar. After some more exploring, we shared some poutine and a hot dog from Wieners of Waterton. After boarding back on the bus we had a quick visit to Cameron Falls and then the iconic Prince of Wales Hotel viewpoint, where turquoise waters showed off the beautiful landscape.

Back in town, the afternoon was perfect for wandering the streets and shops and then we had some amazing iced tea from My Sisters and sat along the waterfront before a sunset dinner at Lakeside Chophouse. We ended the day strolling the waterfront trail where we found some deer strolling through the streets. We truly love Waterton and this is why I love group travel with Collette. I likely would never have had this on my list and now, I really hope we get to come back for a visit.
